Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway is set to be launched in early November 2014, according to President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.
The Head of State made the announcement at a press conference following the results of the meeting with Iranian leader Hassan Rouhani to Astana.
“We have reached certain agreements on bilateral relations with special focus on the terminals we are constructing in the Caspian Sea. With the launch of the new railway, Kazakhstan may increase its wheat market fivefold from 500,000 tons of wheat this year to 2,5 million tons in the future. Besides, the railway will increase transit freight,” President Nazarbayev noted.
