Central Japan Railway Co. (JR Tokai) has announced that it will set up a fully owned subsidiary in Dallas this month to support a bullet train project in Texas.
Koei Tsuge, president JR Tokai said that the company would offer “the best possible support in a timely manner” to TCP via its High-Speed-Railway Technology Consulting Corp. (HTeC) subsidiary.
The new unit, slated to begin operations in August at the earliest, will advise TCP on railway operations, maintenance and the training of personnel. HTeC will have capital of USD 1.5 million.
Using trains based on the N700 series Shinkansen model, the planned high-speed railway will link Dallas and Houston, a distance of 385 km, in about an hour and a half. TCP anticipates that the line will open in 2021.
