Jerusalem 2nd light rail line approved

03-jerusalemThe Jerusalem Municipality’s Planning Committee has approved construction for a new 20-kilometer-long second light rail. The Blue Line will carry up to 250,000 passengers from Gilo in the south, up to Ramot in the north. A second part of the line will also traverse Malha, Emek Rafaim, and Ramot. The project will take several years to be completed.
“Jerusalem is gaining momentum in transportation development that sets it apart as an advanced city,” Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat said.
A third route, which will be called the Green Line and will run from Mount Scopus to Gilo, is awaiting approval.
