The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) procedure for the Monoray project, planned by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and linking Gaziemir and the Fair Izmir, was initiated.
‘İzmir Suburban ESBAS Station-Gaziemir New Fair Area Monoray Line’ project was the first step regarding the passing of the project, according to the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality. Project construction work will continue with the stage phase. The works will be launched in 2017 and they are targeted to be completed by 2020.
The 2.2-kilometer monorail system, which will be integrated into IZBAN (the light rail system in Izmir city) will only provide access to the new exhibition complex in Gaziemir and will be a roundtrip double line.
The monorail where have two stations and 3 trains will be provided with 3 train sets. The monorail system will be equipped with monorail technology with overlay type wheels. Within the scope of construction works, 89 feet viaducts will be constructed each measuring approximately 10 x 6 meters. Using the operation control center (OCC), the monorail trains will run unmanned, but can also be operated manually if necessary.
