Iran to open two railway lines

In February, Iran will put into commercial operation two railway links connecting Malayer-Firouzan-Kermanshah and Mahabad-Urmia, the Deputy Head of Construction and Development of Transport Infrastructure Company said.
Kheirollah Khademi, the CEO of Construction and Development of Transport Infrastructures Company, said that 80 per cent of the 110-km Firouzan-Kermanshah line project is completed and USD 90 million was invested to finalise the modernisation works. In addition, more than USD 102 million investment covered the 97-km Mahabad-Urmia line, that connects West Azarbaijan Province to country’s railway network. 90 per cent of the works are finalised, and to complete the entire project, a USD 62 million investment is needed.
The two projects are part of government’s seven prioritized rail projects in the current Iranian year, which started in March 2017. The 270-km Tehran-Hamedan line is another strategic project, that was inaugurated in May.
The remaining strategy’s four projects are scheduled to be launched. The involve the rail connection between Qazvin and Rasht, Mianeh and Bostanabad, Yazd and Mehriz and Khaf-Herat line.
