India: Vizianagaram – Titlagarh third line construction approved

indiaIndia’s Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved the construction of the third line linking Titilagarh city (in Odisha) wih Vizianagaram (in Andhra Pradesh), both situated in the West.
The third line is an alternative route to over-burdened existing line (ECoR -east coast railway). The length of the railway line will be 264.6 km. The project will be completed within five years.
The existent Vizianagaram – Titlagarh double-lined is non-electrified section of Jharsuguda-Vizianagaram line and is a bottleneck on the main line, as the capacity is oversized. After growth of industries between Jharsuguda-Rengali and Talcher-Angul-Dhenkanal sections, third line between Vizianagaram and Titlagarh has become a necessary step to overcome the goods traffic on the coming days.
