India: Faiveley Transport to supply braking systems to Kochi metro

MetropolisFaiveley Transport has been awarded a series of contracts by Alstom Transport to supply its braking systems, couplers, on-board doors and HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) for the Kochi metro project in Kerala, India.
The contracts awarded to Faiveley Transport amount to more than EUR 10 million for the first 25 train sets, with a potential value for more than EUR 20 million if the option of a further 25 train sets is chosen. They cover a large range of high added value railway systems of the Group, including braking systems (brake control, air generation and treatment and tread brake units), automatic and semi-permanent couplers, external sliding type passengers access doors, and compact saloon HVAC (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning).
Kochi metro will use 25 Alstom Transport’s Metropolis train sets, with an option of a further 25 train sets. Each train, about 65 m long, will be composed of three cars, with a capacity to carry up to 975 passengers.
