ÖBB Rail Cargo Group is increasing the train frequency on Curtici – Istanbul rail route with two round trips per week from 2 June.
With this programme, the RCG enables a fast, high-frequency connection between the two economic regions with a competitive transit time of only 72 hours.
The connection creates a direct link to Halkali, a major international freight terminal in Turkey, with a fixed timetable and an attractive transit time.
Istanbul is also a crucial freight transport hub on the southern Silk Road for shipments between Europe and Asia. It connects Western European economic centres with countries in Southern and Southeastern Europe.
Curtici – Istanbul rail route is part of company’s TransFER connection project with over 50 network and numerous custom TransFER connections, for freight transport throughout the Eurasian continent. The transport units vary from entire wagonloads to intermodal transports all the way to complete custom solutions. Depending on the place of departure and destination, additional freight services such as transshipment, warehouse logistics or customs services can be booked. RCG handles all of the details – from the first mile to the last.
As part of its transport services, ÖBB Rail Cargo Group is using TransNET tool, a new
digital map in ten languages. The users have three options to find their desired connection either using the “Go” and “Thanks” fields to choose the starting location and destination for their goods, finding their connection in a well-arranged list view or simply clicking on a location on the map.
This opens a world of all TransFER connections and combinations which they can connect according to their needs. After selecting the respective route, it is visualised in the map, showing which services are offered at the selected locations.
Another digital service is provided through the SmartLINK solution which enables easy access to the rail system as well as a clear overview of all available modules required to transport freight by rail.
