Bane NOR awarded Implenia a NOK 1.8 billion (EUR 199.37 million) contract to build the double-track Tangenvika railway bridge connecting Espa and the Tangenvika bay.
The bridge will be a 1,022 m concrete prestressed bridge and also include a section on land of approximately 2 km with a wildlife overpass. Extra care is required during construction of the railway bridge since Lake Mjøsa is a source of drinking water with a rich fauna.
For this large and complex infrastructure project Implenia has been selected based on the best score in both quality and price. Both parties have been engaged in extensive dialogue during the competitive tender phase, which supports a smooth implementation of this complex project. Implenia’s bridge experts have successfully collaborated with colleagues from planning, sustainability, quality as well as health and safety in order to come up with this compelling offer.
Tangenvika railway bridge is a complex infrastructure project for which the construction must take place with the least possible impact on the environment in and around Lake Mjøsa. Use of rock masses and location of storage is planned in a way that minimises transport.
The project will start in the second quarter of 2022 and is scheduled for completion in 2027 and is an important part of the InterCity initiative that will provide an improved train service in Eastern Norway.
The planning and realisation of the project are fully digitised using BIM models.
The Tangenvika railway bridge is part of a construction of the second track from Kleverud to Åkersvika in Stange municipality, in Hedmark region. The construction was originally split in two projects, covering the Kleverud-Sørli and Sørli-Åkersvika sections. Due to guidelines issued by the Norwegian Parliament, the whole stretch will be constructed as one project, with the entire stretch of 29.7 km scheduled to become operational in 2027 when trains will run at 250 km/h.
The line from Kleverud in the south to Åkersvika in the north will largely have a whole new route in the southern part of the municipality. Bane NOR is constructing a railway tunnel of 3.1 km between Kleverud and Espa, and the route will cross the bay of Tangenvika on the railway bridge. From here, the double track will continue across the peninsula of Tangenhalvøya, where a new station area will be constructed north-west of the current location. The new station will have side platforms for northbound and southbound trains, with passing loops in either direction in the middle. In the northern part of the municipality the new tracks will run partly along the existing railway tracks and partly following a new route.
