Hupac starts new rail shuttle service between Rotterdam and Germany

Hupac Maritime Logistics launched a new rail shuttle service to the German town of Kornwestheim, creating a direct rail connection between the port of Rotterdam and the major industrial areas around Stuttgart and Baden-Württemberg.
The container train departs from the DUSS Terminal in Kornwestheim on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays the shuttle sets out from the CTT Terminal in Rotterdam eastbound. Starting at the CTT Pernis Terminal, the PortShuttle takes care of the efficient rail container exchange service with the deepsea container terminals at Maasvlakte.
“The port of Rotterdam is an important hub and gateway for Hupac and we are proud of this new connection. This train provides us with the opportunity to target deep sea clients as well. We are convinced that we can offer a fast and reliable service for our customers. Maritime hinterland logistics is a market with a huge potential. Our new business unit Maritime Logistics is launching this new service on a route with high demand. The first weeks are already showing a positive answer from the market,” Peter Weber, director Corporate Development of Hupac Group, said.
“We are really happy with this connection to the Kornwestheim region. It strengthens our rail network and gives the customers in the region a good rail connection with our port,” Matthijs van Doorn, manager Logistics of the Port of Rotterdam Authority, said.
