Hungary – Ukraine direct train to be launched

Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister, Volodymyr Omelian, announced that the Mukachevo-Budapest train services, which will be operated by Hungarian Railways will be launched this year. Ukrzaliznytsya plans to reconstruct the Mukachevo railway station as a transport hub which will provide transport connections.
“I believe that after the existing European railway line reaching Mukachevo is modernized, we will be able to launch the Mukachevo-Budapest train this year. It will be operated by the Hungarian Railways, so the Ukrainians will be able to compare Ukrainian and European trains,” the minister said.
Recently, the two countries agreed to launch a direct railway service from Mukachevo (in Western Ukraine) to Budapest. Under the negotiations, Hungarian side “is ready to provide the rolling stock that will run along the European railway lines that link the two cities,” acting CEO of Ukrzaliznytsya Yevhen Kravtsov said.
