HS1 has achieved the internationally recognised ISO 55001 Asset Management System certification which sets the framework for ensuring a long-term and safe running of the high-speed railway and its stations.
The certification has been attained for the 109km long high-speed line and the four stations along the route – including the iconic St Pancras International.
The certification was achieved using the documents developed for HS1’s Periodic Review submission in May 2024 for Control Period 4 (CP4), showing a strong operational and safety performance over the last five-year period.
Additionally, Network Rail (High Speed) has extended their ISO 55001 certification to include all routes, stations, and depots under their management.
The collaborative nature of these certification achievements and the ongoing ISO surveillance audits, for both organisations, adds a significant layer of assurance that management of the HS1 railway assets is best in class.
The international ISO 55001 certification is an asset management system standard. Its main objective is to help organisations to manage the lifecycle of assets more effectively.
It specifies the requirements for setting up, implementing, maintaining, and improving an asset management system. Any company that complies with this standard is capable of creating value from its assets.
HS1 Ltd has the 30-year concession to own, operate and maintain High Speed 1 (HS1), the UK’s only high-speed railway
HS1 is the 109km rail line between St Pancras International in London and the Channel Tunnel and connects the international high-speed routes between London and Paris, London and Brussels and London and Amsterdam, as well as the domestic route from London to Kent.
