High-quality vehicles come from Durmazlar

With its visions set on the future, Turkey’s largest machine builder company since 2009, decided to invest in the rail systems sector, providing high technology products and contributing to the development of the industry.

The company’s principles are based on high concepts, leading to innovation and technology development, tackling environmental issues, and providing products that contribute to a sustainable mobility.
In this journey, which started in 2009 as Durmazlar Rail Systems and Duray Transportation Systems, the company continues work and production in two separate facilities with a total area of 40,000 square metres, equipped with a 1.2-km test track, where more than 400 employees are doing their best to achieve high-quality products. In 2018, it was decided to build a new and modern facility which is expected to enter production process in 2020. Company’s 2023-2035 operational plan envisages the manufacture of metro and intercity trains.
The company manufacturers bogies, vehicle bodies and welded elements for high-speed trains, trams, light rail vehicles and metro vehicles, including for world-class leading companies such as Alstom, Bombardier and Hyundai Rotem.
DURAY company of Durmazlar which aims to be “The Manufacturer of Rail System Vehicle” has taken the first export step with a contract in Poland while continuing its production with DURMARAY brand. In 2018, the Polish city of Olsztyn awarded a contract for the delivery of 24 Panorama tram cars, designed for a low energy consumption and noise level. The 32.5-metre 100% low-floor tram has a capacity of 210 passengers. By winning this contract, Durmazlar is exporting Turkey’s first domestic tram. The trams for Olsztyn will be delivered in January 2020.
Also in 2018, Durmazlar Makina signed a contract with Doğuş İnşaat ve Ticaret for the supply of 30 trams to İstanbul for the 10-km Eminönü-Alibeyköy line. The first tram was delivered in February 2019 and the custom-engineered tram vehicles for İstanbul took their places as company’s fifth distinct design.


Since 2013, the people of Bursa, Samsun and Kocaeli cities benefit from high-quality public transport services, provided by Durmazlar trams. In 2012, Bursa ordered 6 İpekböceği 100% low-floor trams and in 2014, the city awarded the company another contract for the supply of 60 GreenCity light rail vehicles and 12 bi-directional İpekböceği trams.
In 2016, the city of Samsun ordered 8 Panorama 100% low-floor trams with a length of 33 metres, and a capacity of 330 passengers.
Kocaeli is another Turkish city which selected Durmazlar to deliver 100% low-floor bi-directional Panorama trams. In 2012, the city placed an order for 12 such vehicles and in 2018, 6 additional trams were ordered.
Until now, 78 trams are operating on the tramway network in Bursa, 8 in Samsun and 18 trams in Kocaeli. According to company’s figures, 104 domestic rail urban vehicles serve passengers in 3 different cities.
İn addition, Durmazlar participated in many tram tender processes launched this year in Romania and continues to work diligently to enter the Romanian market with its different designs and new generation vehicles.
Durmazlar vehicles, produced in accordance to European Standards, will provide quality and reliable transport services both in Turkey and abroad.
