Hovedstadens Letbane, the public transport company responsible for the development of Copenhagen LRT line, announced the preferred bidders for the construction and operation of the future line.
The project for the construction of the 28-km line is divided into five construction contracts involving the infrastructure, equipment, operation and maintenance. According to the company, three Danish companies- M.J. Eriksson, Per Aarsleff, CG Jensen were selected for civil works.
The transport system contract, involving the infrastructure and the supply of needed rolling stock, was awarded to the consortium formed by Siemens and Aarsleff Rail.
For the 15-year operations and maintenance contract Metro Service was selected.
The construction works are scheduled to be launched this year, and the line is expected to be put into service in 2023. Line’s ridership is estimated at 13-14 million passengers per year.
Under the project, 29 stations/stops will be constructed, from Lundhofte to Ishøj, serving 11 municipalities and facilitating transport services in Greater Copenhagen, as the line will have connection with five regional S-Train lines, through six stations, including to other public transport services.
