Macedonia’s government has decided to extend an additional subsidy of 70 million denars (1.14 million euros) for 2017 to state-owned railway operator Makedonski Zeleznici Transport, whose workers are protesting over delayed pay. The additional direct state aid aims support the company’s day-to-day operations and help unblock railway transport in the country. Makedonski Zeleznici Transport’s workers have been blocking railway transport across Macedonia since Saturday, demanding payment of January salaries.
