Getlink turnover up 126% in Q1 2023

The turnover of Getlink, the joint French-British company that manages Eurotunnel, increased by 126% in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period in 2022.

Getlink turnoverThe spectacular results are mainly due to the commissioning in May 2022 of its new ElecLink network, which allows electricity to be exchanged between France and the UK. This facility also contributed almost half of the group’s quarterly turnover, which amounted to EUR 231 million.

Eurotunnel’s turnover reached EUR 241 million in the first three months of 2023, an increase of 26% compared to the same period last year, of which passenger shuttle trains contributed EUR 154 million.

Getlink turnover boosted by Eurostar passenger growth

For its part, Eurostar saw an impressive increase in passenger numbers, up 121% on the first quarter of last year, despite protests and strikes in the UK and France. Gellink says it is confident it can exceed its EBITDA target of EUR 910 million in 2023, according to a statement posted Thursday morning on the Franco-British company’s website.

“The solid sales figures recorded by all of the group’s brands in the first quarter confirm the increased attractiveness of our simple and low-carbon solutions. The occupancy rate of shuttle trains, the performance of ElecLink’s business and the growth of Europorte are the fruit of our teams’ daily efforts to deliver excellent quality services to our customers,” said Yann Leriche, the group’s CEO, referring to Getlink’s turnover in the first quarter of the year.

Getlink was founded on 13 August 1986, with France Manche and The Channel Tunnel Group as equal shareholders.
