Kansas City Southern will acquire 50 Tier 4 Evolution Series locomotives from GE Transportation which will be delivered in 2019, as well as digital solutions to drive improved operational and fuel efficiency. The vehicles will be equipped with GE Transportation’s technologies to increase vehicle’s effectiveness and efficiency, as well as the fuel-saving control, and to enhance control and communication system.
“This purchase will help us continue the modernization of our locomotive fleet and position KCS for future expanded volumes,” KCS executive vice president Jeffrey Songer said.
The advanced locomotives will help KCS deliver on its expected future growth, while driving operational efficiencies across the KCS network – in United States and Mexico.
