GCC states have made a commitment to use as much local expertise and labour as possible on the planned 44,000 km international railway network.
Oman’s railway officials proposed concept plans for at least 10% of the companies and labour to come from Oman, enabling money spent on construction and operation to be recycled through the Sultanate’s economy and benefitting its citizens.
A new railway academy is being put together for citizens from across the GCC to learn about construction, maintenance and operation of the network. Programmes are being put in place to encourage small and medium enterprises based in the GCC to work on the railway system.
