FS Italiane starts a new project with India

Under an agreement with Indian Railways, by summer, FS Italiane will complete the feasibility study for the modernisation of the railway corridor between New Delhi and Jaipur. Within the agreement, Italian company will also analyze the possibility on works’ financing.
The 300-km railway line between New Delhi and Jaipur is strategic to India, as 70 passenger trains and 20 freight trains are travelling daily on the corridor.
The study analyses the possibility for increasing the speed on the corridor to 200 km per hour. The project also respects the priority of India in terms of infrastructure investments, that is to modernize the existing railway network and bring the performance of safety and speed to the maximum levels that the network can reach, even before designing and developing new networks.
This project further strengthens the technical collaboration between the FS Italiane Group and Indian Railways, in line with the commitments on a Memorandum of Understanding signed in January 2017, which includes the development of railway traffic safety systems, railway infrastructure and training of Indian security personnel.
