France is interested in developing a high-speed railway from Bangkok to Hua Hin in Prachuap Khiri Khan, said the French ambassador to Thailand during a meeting with the Thai transport minister. Other projects of interest for France are Bangkok electric railways on the Kae Rai-Min Buri, Thailand Cultural Centre-Min Buri and Lat Phrao-Samrong routes, and a tram system on Phuket island.
France is also interested in building an aircraft maintenance facility at U-Tapao airport. Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith met the French ambassador Gilles Garachon in Bangkok.
