Bulgarian state railways BDZ announced that four bidders submitted their offers for the supply of 10 locomotives which will be used for passenger services.
Bombardier Transportation, Siemens Tron Consortium, Excel-EL Consortium and Stadler Rail Valencia are the four bidders. The tender procedure will continue at the stage of submission of technical and price bids.
“The interest shown by leading companies for the delivery of the new rolling stock is a good sign regarding the efforts to improve the sustainability and quality services provided by BDZ – Passenger Transport,” the company says.
BGN 57.5 million (EUR 29.4 million) excluding VAT is the estimated value of the contract for the delivery of 10 new passenger locomotives.
The winner will be announced by the end of March 2020.
The delivery of the first new vehicles is expected to take place within 18 months after the signing of the contract, BDZ – Passenger Services says.
To improve its rolling stock fleet, BDZ – Passenger Services signed a EUR 70 million contract with Alstom to maintain 46 trains (126 cars).
