Five companies selected for Toronto’s Go Transit network expansion

Infrastructure Ontario announced that five teams are prequalified to build and finance the Lakeshore East – Central Corridor expansion project, on Toronto’s GO Transit network. The request for proposals is expected to be released in spring 2018.
The companies are:
• EllisDon Infrastructure Transit (EDIT)
• SNC-Lavalin Team (SNC)
• Dragados Canada Inc. (Dragados)
• Steel Head Constructors (SHC)
• Lakeshore Rail Construction Partners (LRCP)

The project envisages two grade separations at Scarborough Golf Club Road and Morningside Avenue, track and grading work on 3.4 km from Galloway Road to Beechgrove Drive and works on all supporting infrastructure, including retaining walls along the central segment of the Lakeshore East corridor.
The expansion of Lakeshore East – Central Corridor is part of Metrolinx’s planned expansion of GO Transit rail service in support of GO Regional Express Rail (RER). GO RER will provide faster, more frequent and more convenient transit service across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA), including electrification of core segments of the GO rail network by 2024-25. The programme will provide new travel choices for commuters, significantly increase transit ridership, cut journey times and help manage congestion across the GTHA.
The project is being delivered using IO’s Alternative Financing and Procurement (AFP) model, an innovative way of financing and procuring large, complex public infrastructure projects. Projects that are delivered using IO’s AFP model have a track record of being 96 per cent on budget and 73 per cent on time or within one month of the scheduled substantial completion date.
