Warsaw public transport authority ZTM has announced the opening of the bids on 123 tram acquisition tender that includes an option for 90 additional vehicles. The value of the contract is PLN 1.9 billion (EUR 452 million) and is co-financed by the European Union.
Five bidders submitted their offer; the low-price offer was presented by Stadler Polska – Solaris consortium.
The five bidders that submitted their offer are:
• Stadler Polska – Solaris consortium, with a PLN 2.20 billion (EUR 525.67 million) offer;
• Hyundai Rotem with a PLN 2.23 billion (EUR 532 million) offer;
• Škoda Transportation with a PLN 2.72 billion (EUR 647.4 million) offer;
• Pojazdy Szynowe PESA with more than PLN 2.722 billion (EUR 647.9 million) offer;
• Alstom Konstal with a PLN 3.4 billion (EUR 813.67 million) offer.
Under the tender, the most important criteria is the price (53%), followed by level of maintenance activity in the first 1 million-km (20%) energy consumption (9%), impact on track (5%) and low-floor area (3%).
ZTM’s basic order will consist of 85 bidirectional and 18 unidirectional low-floor trams that will have a length of 33 m and 20 24m vehicles. The option for the 90 trams include 45 bidirectional and 45 unidirectional, all with a 33m length.
The delivery of the first tram is planned for the second quarter of 2019 with the last batch by April 2021. The additional trams included in the contract should be delivered by June 2023.
