The metro construction project in Krasnoyarsk is to cost 60-70 billion RUB (0.92-1,08 billion USD), according to Krasnoyarsk Krai Governor Victor Tolokonsky, who made this statement at the Krasnoyarsk Krai Legislative Assembly meeting. The region cannot come up with 100% of the necessary funding for the project and federal financing is needed, he added.
Krasnoyarsk Metro construction was commissioned in 1995 but suspended in 2010 due to lack of financing. Negotiations on the project, which might be rejected in favor of a speed tram project, are ongoing.
