Over EUR 800 million under CEF for Poland’s railways

The Innovation and Networks Executive Agency, INEA, and Poland’s Secretary of State at the Ministry of Economic Development, Jerzy Kwieciński, launched ten new projects co-financed under the third CEF call. PKP Polish Railway Lines signed the financing agreement for four projects with a total value of EUR 816 million.
The first project involves the rehabilitation of E75 railway line on Białystok-Suwałki -Trakiszki (state border) section, Białystok- Ełk section. The value of the project is EUR 398 million, of which, EUR 338 million are co-financed by the CEF.
The project on the implementation of ERTMS/ETCS on TEN-T Core Network has a value of EUR 344.68 million, of which CEF funding covers 85 percent – with a value of EUR 292.98 million.
With a total value of at EUR 142.38 million, the modernisation of Kędzierzyn Koźle-Opole Zachodnie section, on E30 railway line, received a EUR 90 million from CEF, covering 63,22 percent of its value.
The fourth project covers the modernisation of E30 and E65 railway lines in the Silesian Province, valuated at EUR 111.7 million, of which EU allotted a co-financing of EUR 95 million (85 percent). The project involves the modernisation of Będzin-Katowice-Tychy- Czechowice Dziedzice-Zebrzydowice; LOT C Most Wisła- Czechowice Dziedzice-Zabrzeg section.
In the previous two CEF competitive call for proposals, PKP PLK received PLN 14.5 billion (EUR 3.45 billion) for the implementation of 17 projects.
On CEF Transport grants, Poland’s portfolio is composed of 41 projects selected under the 2014-2016, receiving a EUR 4.2 billion European co-financing.
