Polish Railways allocated PLN 352 million (EUR 80 million) for the modernisation of Krzeszowice – Krakow Mydlniki rail section, as part of Katowice – Krakow main line.
The project involves the reconstruction of tracks, the modernisation of viaducts, the replacement of railway traffic control devices and crossings. In addition the project envisages the construction of 6 platforms at Rudawa, Zabierzów and Cracow Mydlniki Wapiennik rail stations.
For this project, PKP PLK signed a contract with Vias Y Construccion, Dragados and Electren at the end of January. Works should be completed at the end of 2017.
This is an important project, as the line is part of E30 corridor, from Lower Silesia to Upper Silesia.
