”In November 2015 – February 2016, EC will launch CEF 2015 Calls for Proposals with a total budget of EUR 7.5 billion. Under CEF 2015 Calls, will be a real priority for Cohesion Member States, with an amount of EUR 6.5 billion. The strong focus will be on innovation and new technologies, traffic management systems and projects on the Core Network for the Cohesion Member States,” declared Stephane Ouaki, Head of Unit Connecting Europe Facility – European Commission, during Railway PRO investment Summit, organized by Club Feroviar, and supported by AIF and AMM.
The co-funding rates under CEF grants, for cross border railway projects costs will be covered in a 40% proportion as CEF general budget, and 85% under CEF Cohesion Envelope. For the elimination of the bottlenecks, EU will fund railway projects in a 30% rate, as CEF general budget, and 85% under CEF Cohesion Envelope. For other rail projects of common interest the CEF general budget will cover 20% of total costs, while under CEF Cohesion Envelope, these kind of projects may receive a 85% financing of total costs. In addition, the projects with the aim to reduce rail freight noise by retrofitting of existing rolling stock under CEF general budget and CEF Cohesion Envelope will be covered 20% of the total cost of each project.
The CEF will finance the implementation of traffic management systems as SESAR, RIS& VTMIS, ERTMS, with a 50/20% financing and 85% within Cohesion Member States.
Before 31 October 2015 the Work Programme 2015 shall be adopted, and on 4 November 2015 EC will publish the Calls. Calls deadline is set for February 2016 and in June 2016 the CEF Committee will approve the selection decision. In September 2016 – December 2016 the grant agreements will be prepared and signed.
