Adif Alta Velocidad (Adif AV) has launched a EUR 260 million tender for the remodelling works at the Valladolid-Campo Grande station, with the aim of responding to the needs arising from the growth in rail traffic, associated with the extension of the high-speed network and the liberalisation of passenger transport.
The station will be transformed to become a high-speed hub in Spain, especially between the north and the centre of the peninsula.
The tender for this project covers the construction of a new passenger building as well as consultancy and assistance services during the works.
The new track configuration is designed for 5 high-speed tracks, two sidings for train movement, other four sidings, two of them with one platform and the other two will both have platforms, and a parking track.
Over these tracks, Adif will also build an access walkway to the station as well as a new underground car parking area park and new buildings for railway use.
The new passenger building at the Valladolid-Campo Grande station will be built as a bridge-building over the platforms, designed to double the space currently used for passengers.
The building will also have two mezzanine floors and a ground floor, intended for other uses linked to operations and for technical premises and the main floor will be used for high-speed and medium distance boarding halls and the commercial and operator area.
The new building and other services and facilities will be equipped with integrated advanced technologies, to ensure accessibility, connectivity, comfort and passenger services.
In addition, the design of the new station considers sustainability as an important component of the project. The new passenger building will use renewable energy and will be equipped with systems to reduce consumption – an element that has been taken into account for construction period – and natural light will be a priority.
Under the project, the station will have an access plaza next to the new passenger building designed for pedestrians, park and ride and kiss&train facilities.
