During the 4th EU-Japan Industrial Dialogue on Railways participants from both sides reflected upon last year’s achievements and they concluded that, despite the success of the past three railway industrial dialogues, some challenges remain ahead. Railway industries in EU and Japan clearly recognise that they have not yet been able to make the most of the bilateral trade opportunities and that considerable untapped potential remains to be discovered by increasing direct communication.
At the occasion of the Industrial Dialogue on Railways, JR East presented its commitments to support European railway suppliers in deepening their understanding of JR East’s procurement system and procedure. “This is part of JR East’s continuous effort to strengthen business cooperation between European and Japanese railway industries, and especially between European railway suppliers and Japanese rail operators. Such business cooperation so far has already led to effective and concrete results. JR East understands that further efforts from both sides will be needed to realise further business transactions between EU and Japan and is ready to play its part in this important area,” the company says.
