Estonian Railways awarded Mipro Oy a EUR 16.5 million contract to renew the signalling system on the Lääne-Harju line, which runs west from Tallinn. The project will soon commence and is scheduled to be finalized by the end of 2021.
Under the contract Mipro will deliver a new traffic management system and signalling system for 80 km of track section. The modernisation of this line includes three railway sections (Tallinn–Keila–Paldiski, Klooga–Kloogaranna and Keila–Riisipere).
The traffic volumes on Lääne-Harju railway section are continually growing due to increasing commuter numbers, leading to the need to renovate the track and its stations. The project will increase the capacity on the line and will allow significant savings.
The contract was awarded following an international tender process conducted in 2017.
“As we signed the contract, works can start to modernise the traffic management system on Lääne-Harju line. The aim of the contract is to increase the efficiency and safety,” Erik Laidvee, the Chairman of the Management Board of Eesti Raudtee said.
