The European Union Agency for Railways (ERA), in an effort to increase transparency in rail safety incident reporting in the EU, and to share information among rail operators and manufacturers, launched a Safety Alert IT tool (SAIT) at the InnoTrans fair in Berlin.
SAIT will facilitate timely sharing of information on significant risks relating to technical equipment, supporting other actors to take immediate action to avoid accidents.
The SAIT is the first deliverable of the Agency in the framework of the Technical Pillar of the 4th Railway package. It will initially be available in three languages (EN, FR, DE), with more language versions being added in the coming years. It can be used on portable devices and shares information in real time.
