EOI launched for extension of Dnipro Metro

extension of Dnipro Metro An invitation for expressions of interest has been launched for the extension of Dnipro Metro with 4 km including three stations.

For the extension of Dnipro Metro project, the Government of Ukraine has received loan financing from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in 2012 which is implemented by Municipal Company Dnipro Metro.

The original works contract was terminated, and Dnipro Metro is intending to carry out a new tender for a design-build work contract to complete the contract. The bank is considering extending financing for the project.

ILF Consulting Engineers Polska Sp. z o.o., Poland will be supporting the company in carrying out the tender and will act as a FIDIC Engineer in the future contract.

In close cooperation with the bank, Dnipro Metro is carrying out market consultations with prospective contractors to develop an optimal procurement and implementation strategy. The bank is arranging and hosting the event. The main purpose of the event is to test the risk appetite of the market in the context of the current situation in Ukraine and give the opportunity to companies potentially interested in participating in the new tender to provide feedback and voice any concerns they may have.

Interested contractors and subcontractors are invited to participate in the upcoming market consultations event (Webex), that is planned to be held at the end of June 2024. All interested prospective contractors wishing to participate in the event shall notify the metro company of their intent no later than June 21, 2024. Accordingly, the registered prospective contractors will be provided with necessary documents related to the event subject.

In preparation for the event, the interested contractors are encouraged to fill and return completed questionnaires to Dnipro Metro within 5 days after their receipt.

The extension of Dnipro Metro comprises the construction of the 4-km section of Line 1 to the city centre to effectively complete the line, the corridor of Karla Marxa, one of the main streets of the city.

In addition to the limited metro service, currently a single line of 7 kilometres in length, the public transport system in Dnipropetrovsk includes tram and trolleybus services.

Following a competitive two-stage tender with prequalification, the construction (design-build) contract was awarded and signed with Limak Insaat Sanayi ve Ticaret, Turkey, in July 2016. The time for completion was established for October 2023. The contract for the role of a FIDIC Engineer was signed with ILF Consulting Engineers Polska SP Z.o.o., Poland, in December 2016.
