Metrovagonmash and Ekaterinburg metro company held a ceremony for the official hand-over of the new 8 metro cars of the 81-717.6 / 714.6 series, delivered ahead of time. They were also put into commercial operation.
The new cars meet the most modern requirements for ensuring traffic safety and passenger comfort. The cars have vertical and horizontal stainless-steel handrails and special places for wheelchairs. They are equipped with onboard warning device for door closing, high-quality lighting system, as well as surveillance system. The cars are equipped with an automatic fire detection and extinguishing system which controls the axle box heating level.
The driver’s cab is fitted with ergonomic chair, a modern console and air conditioning system as well an emergency exit in the frontal part of the cabin.
The cars are designed to operate for 31 years and are completely integrated with the existing cars.
The cars are designed for speeds of 90 km/h, fitted with 48 seats and can accommodate 330 passengers.
