EIB officials signed two loans and a grant agreement totalling EUR 90 million with Montenegro authorities.
A EUR 20 million loan was granted to Zeljeznicka Infrastruktura, the public railway infrastructure manager of Montenegro. The loan will go towards a project aimed at the rehabilitation of railway infrastructure along the main North-South trunk line crossing the country, located on the core Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). The loan was signed with Zeljeznicka Infrastruktura’s Director, Milan Čolaković.
Still for the railway project, a EUR 20 million Western Balkan Investment Facility (WBIF) investment grant agreement was signed, which will co-finance the EIB loan. This is one of the first projects in the Western Balkans to benefit from such a connectivity grant. The grant agreement was signed with the Minister of Finance, Darko Radunović.
