EBRD seeks consultant for Izmir new metro line

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has launched a tender to select and contract a consulting company to provide technical, financial, environmental and social due diligence for the expansion of Izmir metro system. 23 March is the closing date of the tender.

The EUR 200,000 contract is expected to be signed in the second quarter of 2020 and will have an overall duration of three months.

The consultant’s key experts will preferably have 15 years’ experience in the activity which they are proposed for in a similar position including urban transport and rail projects, while other experts will preferably have 5-10 years’ experience.

The project envisages the construction of a 13.5 km metro line from Üçyol to Buca. The line will have 11 stations and a total indoor area of 80 thousand sqm.

The underground metro line will also benefit a 6 km tunnel connection to the depot area.

EUR 754.5 million is the estimated value of the project which is financially supported by the EBRD. İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and the bank have signed in 2019 a EUR 80 million funding agreement for the metro project which is part of the third phase of city’s metro development.
