Dhaka MRT Line 6 construction lauched

dhakaThe Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina and Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh, Masato Watanabe  have officialy inaugurated the construction works on Dhaka MRT Line 6. “Today is a joyous day for the people of the capital, as it marks the beginning of the construction works of the long-awaited first-ever Metro Rail,” the PM said.
MRT Line 6 is an elevated metro system to be implemented in Dhaka, and will run from Uttara to Motijheel serving 16 stations. The project is jointly financed by the Government of Bangladesh and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The partial trial operation of MRT Line 6 up to Agargaon is expected to start by the end of 2019, while the commercial operation of the full system is expected by the end of 2020.
