Design tender for Perth’s future rail control centre released

Western Australian Government released the tender on the desing of Perth’s future rail operations control centre, which will be part of the future signalling system.
The winner will support the Public Transport Authority to prepare a project business case on the project.
“This tender will seek consultants to design and scope out what the options are for delivering this project, and what the long-term costs and benefits are likely to be, to better inform the business case,” Transport Minister Rita Saffioti said.
In September 2017, the government committed AUD 7.4 million (USD 5.87 million) over two years to plan the new signalling system known as Automatic Train Control (ATC) for the Transperth network.
The new Automatic Train Control system would likely require a modern and resilient train control building. ATC will revolutionise the way the Transperth rail network operates, gradually replacing the ageing signalling network with an automatic digital version.
The new system will use state-of-the-art technology and enable more trains to travel more frequently on the rail network.
