Deutsche Bahn (DB) plans to invest an extra €200 million over the next three years improving long-distance rail services.
The money will be spent on upgrading rolling stock, including refurbishing onboard bistros, and making Wi-Fi free and available to all passengers.
Speaking to German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung, DB’s Ulrich Homburg said that free Wi-Fi would be available to all passengers on long-distance services from 2016.
Until now, free wireless internet was only promised to first class passengers, but now DB CEO Rudiger Grube says it will be available to all classes starting in 2016. Currently, passengers can connect to a t-mobile Hotspot while travelling at a cost of €4.95 a day.
