CRRC wins metro train contract in India

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) awarded CRRC Nanjing Puzhen a contract for the supply of 36 metro trains (216 metro cars).

Under the Rs 8.55 billion (USD 119 million) contract, 21 six-car trains will operate the Green and Purple lines, while 15 six-car trains will enter services on the Yellow Line.

The first batch of trains will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2021.
The Purple line, which is providing transport connection on East – West axis, has a length of 18 km and 17 stations. Under the second phase, the line will be extended by 24 km, reaching a total length of 42.5 km served by 36 stations.

The Green Line is constructed to link the Bangalore north and south regions by a 24 km line served by 24 stations. The line will be extended to 44 stations.
The two corridors will meet at Kempe Gowda interchange station.

Construction works are currently carried out for the fully elevated Yellow Line, which will have a length of 19 km and 16. It will link R.V. Road, which will have the connection with the Green Line, with Bommasandra. Works are planned to be completed in 2023.
The phase II of Bangalore metro system will comprise 72 km, of which 13.8 km underground and 57.8 km elevated lines, adding 61 stations with 12 underground stations to the existing network.
