A subsidiary of China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC), CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Company, announced that it had established an Asia-Pacific headquarters and a research & development center in Australia. The Melbourne-based headquarters will help provide technology support for train design, manufacturing and maintenance in the region.
The office employs 41 local workers. “The office will create more job and export opportunities for local train manufacturers,” said Wang Run, chairman of CRRC Changchun.
In November 2016, CRRC Changchun signed a deal with Victoria to build high-capacity metro trains worth USD 1.5 billion.
