At InnoTrans 2018, CRRC will present its Hybrid AC Driving Shunting Locomotive “Kleinstlok HH” for Hamburg developed for Deutsche Bahn, the company announced while releasing the first image of the locomotive.
In June, CRRC and DB signed a contract for the supply of 4 Hybrid locomotives, with an option for 16 additional locomotives. The ordered locomotives will be delivered by 2021.
The vehicles are equipped with lithium batteries which will allow the diesel engine to be switched off when is needed. Also, by using hybrid traction, the energy saving is estimated at 30%, compared to traditional locomotives, and by its braking system 80% of the energy can be recovered. The locomotive can reach a maximum speed of 100 km/h.
