Croatia’s HŽ Infrastruktura will launch this summer work on the construction works of the second track of Dugo Selo – Križevci railway. The estimated value of the project is HRK 1.5 billion (EUR 200 million), of which th85% will be EU’sco-finance.
For this projects, Croatian Railways signed the contract with a consortium consisting of Croatian companies Div, Dalekovod, and Zagreb-Montaža. The value of the contract is HRK 1,24 billion (EUR 166 million). The works should start in the summer of this year, and the whole project should be finished by the end of 2019.
The project involves the construction of the second track on the entire track section length of 38.2 km, the construction of 6 bridges, the removal of 17 level crossings and two pedestrian crossings and the construction of 11 new overpasses. Under the project the electric traction facility and safety signaling and telecommunication devices will be modernized.
“This is a major step for Croatian Railways Infrastructure as well as for the Croatian economy. We are proud that with this project our company becomes the main partner in the biggest project in Croatia which has been co-financed by EU funds. In addition, we are excited about the fact that the project has been recognized by the European Union, which will with 85 percent of the funds co-finance the works and supervision of the project. It is a section that is part of the Mediterranean Corridor, one of two European transport corridors that pass through Croatia and are part of the European transport network. We have focused on priority investments that are potentially the largest generators of traffic and revenue growth”, Renata Suša, general manager of HŽ Infrastruktura said.
