Croatian oil and gas company INA has announced the shipment of 600 t of crude oil from its storage facility in Graberje Ivanecko to its Rijeka-based refinery by rail in order to test this method of transportation.
The purpose of the operation was to explore the functionality of loading, transporting, unloading and storing domestic crude oil in the Rijeka refinery, an option which may be used in the future to ensure the flexibility of refining domestic oil.
The goal is to ensure the stability of oil supply in Croatia. “This test was held following the fulfillment of all the technical and operational preconditions”, INA said.
