CPPK orders more electric trains from TMH

electric multiple unitsThe Russian Central Suburban Passenger Company (CPPK) has ordered seven 11-car EP2D electric multiple units from Demikhovsky Machine Building Plant (DMZ), part of Transmashholding. The new EMUs will be put into operation on Moscow’s Regional Express (REKS) network.

Under the contract, DMZ will deliver the new electric multiple units starting September 2020. The contract was signed at the end of July when the manufacturer started the train production.

The EP2D direct current trains are designed to ensure the entry and exit of passengers on high platforms. The new trains feature ergonomic seats made of wear-resistant materials, reliable hand rails in the vestibules and bicycle racks in the head carriages. The are equipped with USB sockets between the seats in the salons, external screens displaying passenger information.

All EP2D EMUs are equipped with air conditioning and air disinfection systems that will maintain a comfortable temperature in the train and prevent pathogens from spreading, which is especially important in the context of the spread of coronavirus infection.

The trains will be barrier-free to improve the access to rail travel for passengers with disabilities and reduced mobility.The head carriages are equipped with folding ramps for unhindered entry into the carriage and the necessary fastenings for wheelchairs in the cabin, as well as an environmentally friendly toilet system adapted for use, including for passengers in a wheelchair.Information system in the coaches are duplicated in Braille.

They are painted in blue and white colours to distinguishing from regular services.

They will operate the express rail services between Moscow and the Savelovsky District.

In total, the Demikhovsky Machine Building Plant has manufactured 19 ED4M electric trains with an updated interior and 8 EP2D electric trains for the REKS project of the CPPK company. This year, the suburban railway operator has ordered 10 EP2D EMUs for Moscow railway network.

The first four EP2D EMUs were delivered July and early August. This year, DMZ manufactured 10  standard EP2D eleven-car trains for the CPPK.
