The Norwegian railway infrastructure manager, Bane Nor, has awarded the Hæhre – PNC ANS consortium a NOK 2.2 billion contract for the construction of a double-track section between Eidsvoll North to Langset, on the InterCity main line, in eastern Norway.
The project envisages the construction of a 4.5 km double-track section, whith a short tunnel, three shorth bridges and the 836-meter Minnevika railway bridge which will be Norway’s longest railway bridge built on floating piles. The contract does not include the signaling system.
The Eidsvoll North – Langset double track is scheduled to be opened in the autumn of 2023.
“At the first announcement, we did not achieve sufficient competition, but we are well pleased with the response in the market after the assignment was re-announced,” Rønnaug-Ingeborg Resset, Bane Nor Project Manager said.
The double track project in Eidsvoll is an important piece of the InterCity development, which will provide shorter travel times, better punctuality and additional capacity. The development will help society achieve the goals of environmentally friendly public transport and hub development.
