The Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority, California, announced that in October 2017 will launch the construction works for Foothill Gold Line light rail extension from Glendora to Montclair. The LRT project involves the construction of a 19.8 km line and 6 stations. Under the updated schedule, a substantial completion is anticipated in late-2025 to early-2026.
The completion of Glendora – Montclair LRT section is estimated to cost USD 1.37 billion and will take approximately eight years to construct.
“We have a more detailed understanding of this project and how we will build it. It is really two major projects in one –the freight and Metrolink relocation/reconstruction will have to be completed first, followed by construction of the light rail system. And to reduce risk for the future design-build contractor, the first year of the project will be used to relocate utilities and conduct pre-construction activities,” Habib Balian, CEO of the Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority said.
In October 2016, the authority’s board of directors approved the advanced conceptual engineering (ACE) draft documents for this LRT section.
