Construction completed for Inner Mongolia HSR

Construction works were completed for the Ulanqab – Zhangjiakou rail section as part of the 287-km railway line linking Inner Mongolia’s capital, Hohhot, Ulanqab city, and Zhangjiakou city, in Hebei Province. The railway section is scheduled to be put into commercial operation in 2019, after rigorous tests will be carried out.
This is the first Inner Mongolia’s high-speed line allowing trains to run at speeds of 250 km/h.
In August 2017, China Railway Corporation opened the 126 km Hohhot – Ulanqab section, as part of this high-speed railway line. The construction works started in 2014.
To complete a high-speed rail corridor from Beijing to Hohhot, a 174-km line between Beijing Bei and Zhangjiakou should be opened next year, cutting travel time from 9 hours to 3 hours.
Hohhot – Zhangjiakou is the first high-speed line connecting railway network in north China with China’s HSR network, through Beijing.
The Zhangjiakou city is situated in northwestern Hebei province, in Northern China, bordering Beijing to the southeast and will be a co-host city of the 2022 Olympic Winter Games.
