A new railway line connecting Chongqing and Guiyang in southwest China will be opened in January, China Railway Chengdu Group Co announced. A trial run of the railway was carried out in December.
The 347-km line, with 12 stations, allows trains to run at speeds of 200 km/h improving rail traffic between China’s southwest and the rest of the country.
The line will cut travel time Chongqing and Guiyang from current 10 hours to 2 hours and will shorten travel time between Chengdu, capital of Sichuan, and Guiyang to 3.5 hours.
It will also significantly shorten trips between Sichuan, Guizhou, Chongqing and eastern coastal areas.
