On May 21, China Railway Group has started the construction of the new high speed rail line, a key link for the capital’s new airport and Xiongan New Area.
When completed, in 2019, the Beijing-Bazhou high speed rail will allow trains to run at speeds of 350 km/h. Passengers will be able to transfer between the capital’s new airport and the high-speed railway station via an underground stop on the new rail line.
Bazhou is Beijing southern city, situated at 80 km distance from the country’s capital.
Upon its completion, a modern transport network will serve the country’s capital and inject new dynamism into north China.
The new rail line is also a key part of the Beijing-Kowloon route connecting Beijing and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. By 2019, Hong Kong and Xiongan will be linked by the new railway.
China has a 124,000 km rail network, of which 22,000 km is the high-speed railway network, representing 65% of the global network. In 2016, China has commissioned 4 high-speed railways. By 2020, the country’s objectives include a network of 150,000 km of railways, of which 30,000 km will be HSR.
