Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Selvi J Jayalalithaa, inaugurated second stretch of Chennai Metro connecting Little Mount to Chennai International Airport.
The second stretch of the metro covers 8.6 kilometers and has six stations at Little Mount, Guindy, Alandur, Nanganallur, Meenambakkam and Chennai airport.
The first 10km stretch of Chennai Metro started operating between Koyambedu and Alandur in June 2015.
Alandur station will be a junction with two levels linking the stretches — Koyambedu to Alandur (upper level) and Little Mount to Chennai airport (lower level).
Chennai is the fourth-largest city in India.
